eGovWatch: Delhi government puts up status of ration cards online

Delhiites can now check the status of their ration cards, distribution of rations, performance of officials of the department with the Delhi Government putting up all such informations online.

Food Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Asim Ahmed Khan said real-time information about pendency and disposal of applications for food security and ration cards by inspectors and food and supply officers has been made available on the department’s website.

According to the minister, citizen can visit the website and click on the link named ‘Date wise Disposal of Applications by FSO/Inspector’ which has been provided on the home page of the portal – nfs.Delhi.Gov.in – under the head, ‘Citizens Corner’.

“Besides this, people can also see performance of the department’s officers in disposal of applications for providing food security and issuing Food Security ration cards,” Khan said.

He said that the online facility will further improve transparency in the functioning of the department.

The department has 70 offices in city where applications for grant of food security can be submitted.

Each office has one Food & Supply Officer and Inspector who scrutinise these applications and decides eligibility of the applicants to get food security under the National Food Security Act 2013, the minister said.

“Decision on applications can be immediately known online by people who can appeal against the decision of approval or rejection of the applications,” he added.
