eGovWatch: Engineering, management students to get SMS alerts on course news

Students applying for engineering and management courses in Maharashtra will no longer have to keep checking the Directorate of Technical Education’s website for news.

Once registered with the website, the students will now get alerts on SMS and email for every new announcement.

The website has a link to get registered where all information about the student will be asked. Once the data such as name, date of birth, phone number etc has been entered, and the student clicks on the registration icon, the website will produce a receipt saying the student’s information will be stored by the server and whenever there is a new announcement about the course opted for, the student will get an SMS or email alert.

The list of courses under the new registration procedure includes Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Masters of Business Administration, Post-Graduate Diploma for Management, hotel management, polytechnic etc.

“Our admission system is already online. Our website is the only notice board and students have to keep visiting it from time to time for updates. Some students are not aware about the system, especially those applying from places out of Maharashtra. In such a situation, candidates tend to miss out on important information and eventually seats.

The new system is developed for candidates’ convenience,” said S K Mahajan, Director, DTE. This process is only for registration and getting news; students must make sure they separately fill forms and follow the proper admission procedure on time to be eligible for a seat.
