eGovWatch: Himachal Pradesh government launches mobile app for legislators

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh launched an android based mobile app which will enable legislators to get information regarding proceeding of the House on their mobile phones.

The facility, known as ‘e-vidhan’, would enable the elected representatives to see list of business and starred
and unstarred questions, 45 minutes in advance and also provide the information about proceedings of the House at a definite time.

Besides notifications, news bulletin, budget speech and other documents issued by the Legislative Assembly, the application would also enable the ministers to get replies from concerned secretaries, Speaker B B L Butail said.

Detail status of bills, salary slip, and other services would also be available on the application along with telephone directory of officers of government departments.

Butail said that in the second part of the app to be launched soon, the respective constituencies of the MLAs would also be connected to it, enabling the elected public representatives to know the problems faced by the people on mobile and assist in their prompt redressal.

WiFi internet dongle would also be provided to MLAs on demand, which could be used in the Assembly campus, constituencies, and even outside the state to keep the MLA abreast and updated with the latest developments in their areas.
