eGovWatch: Now, a web portal for Akhilesh Yadav government news

To provide a consolidated source for government related news, the Akhilesh Yadav government will soon launch a web portal, which it claims is the first of its kind.

The beta version of the portal ‘UPnews360.com’ is already available and is regularly updated with information about the Chief Minister’s official visits to different districts, government events and Akhilesh’s posts and comments on social media.

“The purpose of the website is to disseminate information among the public…what we wanted to share with the public. It is basically our ‘news site’. We had observed, for example, that people living in Lucknow were not necessarily aware of what is happening (with regard to the government) in Ghaziabad.

Hence, we are uploading all such programmes on the website,” said Navneet Sehgal,  principal secretary with the state Information Department. “Once it is formally launched, any visitor, including those accessing it on their mobile phones, would get all the government news,” said an official.

On its home page, the website has separate windows for UP news, district news, departmental news, schemes, photo-gallery and success stories of the government. It also has a video gallery with the CM’s speeches, and links to his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
