DIGITAL NORTH EAST CONNECTING THE UNCONNECTED
Organised by The Indian Express Group, the North East edition of Technology Sabha is a two-day residential conference that explore new trends and innovations in creating a digital ecosystem for accelerating e-Governance initiatives.
The conference will feature thought leaders from various government organizations who have undertaken some of the best Government to Government, Government to Citizen and Government to Business initiatives.
With the Indian Government pushing for digital transformation of the country under the ‘Digital India’ programme, most of the government organizations across the country are in the midst of imbibing emerging technologies for effective governance. And, India’s unexplored paradise North East is no exception.
Despite tough terrain and pressure on connectivity infrastructure, the progress made by eight states in the region – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura – bears testimony to the commitment of the government towards improving the economy of these states and use technology for ensuring a greater level of prosperity and better delivery of citizen-centric services.
A robust infrastructure is critical for achieving the vision of a technology-driven government. The Government has already planned to invest close to Rs 100 billion by 2022 on 415 projects in the region. The investments will go into eight digital thrust areas such as digital infrastructure, digital services, digital empowerment, electronics manufacturing promotion, IT and IT-enabled services like BPOs promotion, digital payments, innovation and startups, and cybersecurity.
