How ItzCash ensures uninterrupted transaction for its 30 million users

ItzCash resorted to Netmagic as its data center service provider. The company’s production setup is hosted out of Netmagic’s data center in Mumbai and their DR set up is hosted out of Noida. ItzCash is now exploring the possibility of moving to a cloud-based infrastructure with Netmagic.

Cash transactions has decreased significantly ever since technology has enabled people to transact or do banking electronically or via mobile. According to a report “Indian Fin-tech Products—Innovation Driving Growth” by The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), total fintech software and services market is estimated to be worth $8 billion and pegged to grow 1.7X by 2020, and payment processing (that include transaction gateways and platforms, online/ mobile wallet, ATM & POS services, remittance and cash cards) and trading are key emerging segments in Indian Fin-tech landscape.

Worldwide fintech software market is estimated to be valued at $32 billion in 2015 and is forecasted to reach to $45 billion by 2020. One of the early kick-starters of this sector, ItzCash Card Ltd, payment startup providing cash card and remittance solution was launched in 2006. ItzCash is a venture of the Essel Group which offers a portfolio of customized e-commerce and m-commerce solutions in the B2B & B2C space.

The firm has over 30 million active consumers annually, 0.5million transactions processed in ItzCash system daily. Annually over 200 million transactions processed by ItzCash. To cater such a scale, the company has high end IT infrastructure in place. While ensuring that it has healthy IT framework, the company also wanted to be compliant of all the rules and regulations of the country. ItzCash production facility was previously hosted out of a data center in Mumbai. However, owing to norms of RBI, it was mandatory for ItzCash to have, both, a production and DR setup but located in different seismic zones. The current data center provider was unable to fulfill this mandate.

Moreover, ItzCash wanted, both, its production and DR setup to be hosted with a single data center service provider to avoid the chaos that would ensue due to the lack of coordination between separate service providers. Hence, the company decided to look for a single data center service provider who could host both its production, as well as, DR set up albeit in separate seismic zones. ItsCash wanted a fail proof infrastructure to avoid disruption in business activities, should a disaster strike.

ItzCash resorted to Netmagic as its data center service provider. The company’s production setup is hosted out of Netmagic’s data center in Vikkroli (Mumbai) and their DR set up is hosted out of Noida.

ItzCash recently migrated from IPV4 to IPV6 protocol where Netmagic configured and set up the addresses on IPV6 without any glitch. The solution deployed has elements such as Colo – Rack Space; Bandwidth; MitiDDOS service; Fireproof storage cabinet; and IP camera and seating space.

About 99.99% uptime

ItzCash has been able to benefit from a highly available infrastructure with 99.99% uptime, always. “As a CTO, the last thing that I should worry about is how safe and secure my servers are – this is hygiene, which I take for granted. I should be able to help my business scale up, run and deploy applications without having to worry about the underlying infrastructure. Netmagic allows me to do all of this,” said Daykin Creado, Chief Technology Officer, ItzCash Card Ltd.

After this association, ItzCash gets round the clock support, maintenance and technical expertise ensures faster turnaround times (TAT) and improved performance levels, and has secure (biometric) access to IT infrastructure at any point of time for ItzCash, as well as, its vendors.

“Netmagic is very proactive and responsive and informs us in advance if there is an issue and the time for resolution of the same. For example, during the Delhi earthquake, we were proactively informed on the status of our infrastructure and we didn’t face any downtime because of that,” told Creado. ItzCash is now exploring the possibility of moving to a cloud-based infrastructure with Netmagic.
