Accenture to implement SAP solutions for Bharti Retail

Bharti Retail today announced that it has selected Accenture to implement SAP solutions to enable the retailer to more efficiently plan, monitor and track the flow of merchandise and information throughout its supply chain. The Indian retail giant currently operates 212 neighbourhood stores and compact hypermarket formats across 11 Indian states.

By rolling out the SAP ERP application and data management software, along with solutions for merchandising, forecasting, promotion management and fulfillment, Bharti Retail will be able to better react to shifting retail trends and better serve its customer base across all touch points.

Under the contract, Accenture will also implement advanced analytics, planning and financial solutions from SAP, designed to improve the speed of reporting across the organisation. This will provide Bharti Retail with actionable business insights and lay a foundation for better decisions for operational and business planning.

“The retail industry today is facing challenges of poor consumer sentiments, supply chain inefficiencies and rising costs”, said Raj Jain, MD & CEO, Bharti Retail. “We believe that Accenture’s systems integration capabilities and deep retail industry knowledge, combined with its unrivaled understanding and experience in implementing SAP solutions, will help us simplify and strengthen the efficiency of our business operations and support our efforts to rapidly scale up our business.”

Avinash Vashistha, Chairman and Managing Director, Accenture India, said, “Retailers need to create better business insights and become more dynamic and agile in order to compete as a high-performance organisation. Using advanced analytics and implementing a central planning platform will provide Bharti Retail the insights, flexibility and transparency it needs in its IT operations and supply chain, thereby helping the company to streamline its operations expenditure and improve its profitability.”
