Asana’s Work Innovation Tour India explores practical models for human–AI collaboration at scale

Asana recently concluded the Work Innovation Tour (WIT) India in Mumbai, bringing together enterprise leaders, practitioners and technology teams to examine how organisations can integrate human judgement and artificial intelligence more effectively into everyday work. The event was held at the Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport.

With AI adoption accelerating across Indian enterprises, discussions at the event focused on a common challenge: how to embed AI into workflows without adding fragmentation or increasing coordination overhead. Speakers highlighted that as AI tools proliferate, connected work systems and contextual clarity are becoming critical to sustaining productivity and execution at scale.

From automation to decision support

The event opened with a keynote on the evolving role of AI in work management, led by Jo Gaines, Head of Channel, APJ at Asana. The session explored how organisations are moving beyond basic automation towards AI-enabled workflows that support decision-making, risk identification and cross-team alignment. The emphasis was on reducing “work about work” by consolidating information and execution into connected systems.

Vishnu Prasad, Head of South Asia at Asana, noted that as AI becomes embedded in daily operations, clarity is emerging as a key differentiator for organisations. He observed that effective human–AI collaboration depends on providing teams with the right context at the right time, enabling them to focus on strategic outcomes rather than coordination challenges.

Connected workflows in practice

Following the keynote, Shannon Tjang, Solutions Engineer at Asana, demonstrated how cross-functional teams use connected workflows to address bottlenecks and improve visibility across departments. Live demonstrations covered use cases such as marketing campaigns, product launches and operational planning, illustrating how a single source of truth can reduce delays and dependency-related friction.

A customer panel featuring leaders from Artha Group and 99acres shared practical perspectives on implementation. Panellists discussed challenges such as unclear ownership, distributed information and cross-team dependencies, and outlined how structured work management approaches have helped improve delivery timelines and stakeholder alignment.

Leadership in an AI-augmented workplace

The event concluded with a fireside discussion between Vishnu Prasad and entrepreneur and author Ankur Warikoo, focusing on leadership in AI-enabled organisations. The conversation examined how cultural factors—such as psychological safety, transparent decision-making and continuous learning—play a role in ensuring that AI augments rather than replaces human judgement and creativity.

According to Asana, the Work Innovation Tour India reflects growing interest among Indian enterprises in redefining how work scales in an AI-enabled environment. The discussions reinforced the view that long-term impact depends not just on deploying AI but on designing work systems that connect people, processes and technology in a coherent and measurable way.
