Aurionpro Solutions Limited has won another major contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) for the implementation of Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems for the upcoming Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail projects, further expanding its footprint across India’s metro rail network.
The order has been awarded as part of DMRC’s collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) and aims to deploy standardised AFC systems to improve commuter convenience, operational efficiency, and interoperability across metro networks in Madhya Pradesh.
INR 150 crore multi-year engagement
Under the multi-year contract, valued at approximately INR 150 crore, Aurionpro will supply, implement, and maintain open-loop EMV card- and QR-code-based AFC solutions for both metro corridors. The scope includes end-to-end system implementation followed by operations and maintenance support over a five-year period.
The AFC systems will support both open-loop and closed-loop EMV ticketing architectures and are designed to comply with global payment standards as well as India’s National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) norms.
Focus on interoperability and commuter experience
According to the company, the deployment is expected to support seamless fare payments, faster passenger movement, and improved interoperability across metro systems as India continues to scale urban mass transit infrastructure.
Aurionpro’s AFC solutions are backed by its in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, with systems developed and produced in India while adhering to international compliance standards.
Continued engagement with DMRC
Sanjay Bali, President – Tech Innovation Group (TIG), Aurionpro, said, “We are grateful to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for their continued trust and confidence in Aurionpro. This engagement marks yet another significant collaboration with DMRC and reinforces our growing presence in India’s metro rail ecosystem. Aurionpro is rapidly expanding its footprint across metro networks and is proud to enable seamless, high-performance ticketing solutions that enhance commuter convenience, speed, and overall passenger experience. With a strong track record of successful metro implementations and a portfolio of cutting-edge offerings, Aurionpro is steadily strengthening its position as a preferred partner in the smart mobility space. This win further accelerates our growth momentum and positions us strongly to secure additional opportunities in this fast-evolving market.”
Broader implications for India’s smart transit ecosystem
The latest order comes as metro rail projects continue to expand across tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with a growing emphasis on cashless ticketing, interoperability, and unified commuter experiences. Standardised AFC systems are increasingly seen as foundational digital infrastructure for urban mobility, supporting not only fare collection but also future integration with multimodal transport and smart city platforms.
With projects now spanning multiple metro networks across the country, Aurionpro’s continued engagement with DMRC underscores the increasing role of domestic technology providers in shaping India’s next phase of smart public transport development.
