Data deluge offers a unique opportunity for companies

Erick Watson, Chief Product Officer of Moodwire believes that the data deluge offers a unique opportunity for companies to be able to gather a great deal of data and quickly synthesize it

How has Moodwire evolved over the years?
Moodwire has gone through many changes in its history and we feel we’ve landed on the highest value-added place we’ve even been. From a social sentiment tool to a comprehensive translator of unstructured data and news into corporate and organizational ROI, we’ve come a long way.

So you are largely looking at social data?
We think of it as social data but beyond as well. For us, any unstructured data that is seeking structure is our bailiwick. For us, anything that is “written” (what some call “news”) is our playground and we translate that into real, actionable insights.

How does this help an organization generate ROI?
Put simply, we believe that the data deluge offers a unique opportunity for companies to be able to gather a great deal of data and quickly synthesize it and create readable reports that then allow for action plans to be made. This can be tied directly to ROI via closed loop practices that seek to connect outcomes to decisions made based on data.

Is this largely about Algorithms, NLP, and AI?
Yes and no. The technology is all about algorithms and NLP but the processes that companies and other organizations need to go through to develop real plans based on the data they get and interpret falls into the realm of culture and managerial best practices versus strict tech.

What are your plans for the company?
We are in a heady time. We are signing partners and customers by the bushel and are showing immediate results. This is very gratifying for a product person like me who built the product based on what real people said they needed. We are not a solution looking for a problem
