Before holding the reins, Nadella was the executive Vice President of Microsoft’s cloud and enterprise segment. The Inception
Nadella worked at Sun Microsystems, as a member of its technology staff, and had joined Microsoft in 1992. He had pioneered significant projects in Microsoft like switching to cloud computing, and also launching one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world. Nadella even played a crucial role of bringing Microsoft’s database, windows server and developer tools under its Azure cloud.
He has been helping generate billions in profit, in the years between 2011 and 2013.
Taking Over The Reins As CEO
In the year 2014, Satya Nadella was declared as the CEO of Microsoft in 2014. His predecessors were Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer. Ever since he resumed responsibilities, Nadella had brought in a great degree of openness in Microsoft’s working with other companies and other technologies. Under him, Microsoft’s mission statement was to ‘empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more.’
Acquisition And Growth Of Microsoft
Under Satya Nadella’s tutelage, Microsoft had gone in for many successful acquisitions. The first one was that of Mojang, which was a Swedish gaming company, that was popularly famous for the game Minecraft in 2014 in a deal that was worth $2.5 billion. Also in 2016, Microsoft had purchased Xamarin and LinkedIn, followed by GitHub in 2018.
Microsoft’s stock had tripled in value in 2018, where the Annual Growth Rate was 27 percent.

Satya Nadella is a great admirer of American and Indian poetry. His wife Anupama and he are a part of the ownership group of Seattle Sounders FC, a famous League Soccer club. His is the author of a book called ‘Hit Refresh’, that talks about his life and career.
