Google Hangouts for Android now supports video messages

The update has started rolling out on Google Play Store, and now allows Android users to record a video message of one minute duration from within the app. Users can also send a pre-recorded video in the form of reply.

Google has finally updated its Hangouts app for Android with support for video messages. Google had updated its Hangouts app for iOS with similar feature back in February 2014.

Google initially launched video replies for iOS with a duration limit of 10 seconds, before increasing the limit to one minute. However, Hangouts on Android supports full 1080p video uploads while iOS supports only 360p video.

At Google’s annual developer conference I/O 2016, Google announced two new messaging apps – Allo and Duo. Google’s new messaging app Duo is centered around Google’s very own assistant and take advantage of chatbots.

With the latest update, Google Hangouts on Android looks more engaging than its iOS counterpart. The update is being slowly rolled out via Google play Store.
