How 5G will drive automation in logistics, supply chain and warehousing

The logistics and supply chain business are dependent on timely information at the demand and supply end of the complete channel. To be able to do this on time you require data speed to transfer information between the different IT modules inside the warehouse.
5G promises higher bandwidth on-demand with the following benefits to logistics, supply chain, and warehousing entities

o Connect to low-powered devices for machine-to-machine communications with up
to 10 years of battery life
o Provide an ultra-reliable network – there will be a huge evolution that needs to
happen on cyber security and

For instance, 5G in supply chain operations can help companies optimise their routes to avoid unnecessary trips and inefficiencies. Portable Internet-connected trackers that monitor in real-time the location and condition of goods throughout the entire supply chain can eliminate such information ‘black holes.’ Sophisticated Augmented Reality applications used in logistics, such as vision picking, will be significantly enhanced on a 5G network.
