IBM to provide Integrated Managed Services to VRL Media

VRL Media Ltd has adopted IBM’s Integrated Managed Services (iMS) solution to operate its newspaper, “Vijayvani” from ten different locations. Through the five year partnership, IBM will manage all infrastructure services to address the IT needs for the newspaper, published in Kannada.

VRL Media, which is a part of the VRL Group, one of Karnataka’s leading enterprises with diverse business interests including publishing, launched the Kannada daily, Vijayvani, recently. The company recognized the need to strengthen its IT infrastructure for seamless operations to further increase its productivity and market penetration.

IBM’s iMS solution, a remotely managed and infrastructure model, enables the newspaper to improve their current level of services, and deliver new offerings with reduced costs. VRL will also be positioned to leverage IBM’s assets such as tools, processes and deep technology skills to enable 24×7 monitoring, management and reporting services of their IT infrastructure.

“IBM’s solution helps our new media venture immensely. This long-term engagement will not only help us better utilize our IT budget but also continuously improve the technology environment, critical for business growth. IBM takes a holistic approach that involves end-to-end designing and delivering robust technical solutions that are easy to acquire and backed by world-class support,” said Anand Sankeshwar, Managing Director, VRL Media Ltd.

The iMS solution provides clients with the capability to monitor and manage assets using an optimized cloud delivered service. By leveraging iMS, IBM designed a robust model that will help drive higher operational efficiency, reduce business operating costs, and manage risk better across all the locations from where the newspaper gets published.

“We are happy to work with the VRL group in creating an integrated and efficient operation. The solution will help VRL to focus more on their core business while establishing a collaborative and innovative computing environment without significant up-front costs,” said Sriram Rajan, Vice President and Regional Territory Executive – South, IBM India/South Asia.
