IDC Says That Around 50% Of Indian Enterprises Would Operate In A Hybrid Multi-Cloud Ambience By 2021

There are organisations that are looking at multiple clouds. It is also reported that they are simultaneously dealing with the challenges of managing a hybrid multi-cloud environment.

As per global market intelligence firm International Data Corporation (IDC), around half of the enterprises in India, would be operating in a hybrid multi-cloud environment by 2021. While 95 percent organisations are planning to increase their cloud spend in the upcoming one year, the adoption of cloud technologies is pertinent for enterprises of all sizes. IDC said this as a part of its Worldwide Cloud Predictions for 2020 and beyond.

As per Rishu Sharma, Principal Analyst, Cloud and Artificial Intelligence, IDC India, enterprises in India are looking at cloud as a key enabler to meet their business priorities. According to IDC’s Cloud Pulse 2Q19, around 75 percent of organisations in India, have plans to invest in the cloud-based infrastructure and applications to meet their business goals. 

Organisations are looking at multiple clouds, and are simultaneously dealing with the challenges of managing a hybrid multi-cloud environment. Here are some of the key predictions that is likely to impact the technology buyers and suppliers in cloud technologies and services in India, in the upcoming three years:

  • Distributed Clouds: Around 50 percent in India, would be relying on a mix of on-premises/dedicated private clouds, and legacy platforms in order to meet their infrastructure needs by 2020.
  • Multicloud Management: Around 30 percent Indian enterprises would be deploying unified VMs, Kubernetes, and multi-cloud management and tools. This would be to support robust multi-cloud management and governance across on-premises and public clouds by 2030.
  • Hyperagile Apps: It’s hoped that a third of India enterprises applications would be deployed in a containerised hybrid cloud/multi-cloud ambience. This would be to provide agility, thus delivering a frictionless deployment and management experience by 2023.
