IndiaTech.Org appoints Dhiraj Gyani as CEO

IndiaTech.Org has appointed Dhiraj Gyani as its Chief Executive Officer, elevating him to the top leadership position after more than three years with the technology industry association.

Gyani joined IndiaTech.Org in June 2023 as Senior Director – Policy & Operations and subsequently became Chief Operating Officer in July 2024. In his new role, he will lead the organisation’s growth while strengthening its engagement with policymakers, regulators and stakeholders across India’s technology and startup ecosystem.

His appointment comes at a time when India’s technology ecosystem is facing an expanding policy agenda around digital markets, artificial intelligence, data governance, capital access and the global competitiveness of homegrown technology companies. IndiaTech.Org represents consumer internet startups, unicorns and investors, and works with government and regulators on policy and industry issues.

Gyani brings more than 24 years of experience spanning public policy, government affairs, regulatory strategy, marketing and business development. Before joining IndiaTech.Org, he spent more than eight years with Microsoft and GitHub, including serving as Director, Government Affairs & Education Business at GitHub.

At GitHub, he worked with government, academia and startups, including initiatives aimed at expanding the adoption of the developer platform. Earlier, he held marketing and public-sector roles at Microsoft.

Gyani’s experience also extends beyond technology, covering sectors including education, consumer goods and infrastructure. IndiaTech.Org describes his career as focused on navigating regulatory environments and building connections between businesses and government.

As CEO, Gyani will inherit a broader mandate as IndiaTech.Org seeks to strengthen the technology industry’s engagement with policymakers and contribute to the development of an environment conducive to innovation and scale.

His elevation also marks a continuity of leadership for the organisation, with Gyani moving into the CEO role after working closely with its members and policy initiatives as COO.
