The Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice and Kato.hub sp. z o. o. to advance collaboration in artificial intelligence, gaming, and deep-tech innovation.

The agreement was formalised at the Karnataka State Pavilion during the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, signalling a step toward structured India–Poland cooperation across innovation-led sectors.

The LoI was signed by Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur, IAS, Managing Director of Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society and Director at the state’s Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, alongside representatives from the Katowice Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Kato.hub. Dr Manjula N., IAS, Secretary to the Government, was present at the signing.

Building a cross-border innovation corridor

The proposed collaboration includes plans to establish a Karnataka–Katowice Digital & Gaming Corridor, connecting the two regions’ startup and technology ecosystems. Key focus areas include artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, advanced digital solutions, and applied deep-tech innovation.

Planned initiatives under the partnership include:

  • Startup exchange programmes through incubation and acceleration initiatives
  • Joint demo days, investor connects, and innovation missions to support market access
  • Academic collaborations and applied research pilots
  • Formation of a joint task force to identify pilot projects and develop an implementation roadmap

The Katowice region is known for its industrial automation, robotics, and gaming technology ecosystem, which complements Karnataka’s growing AI and startup landscape.

Expanding India–EU technology cooperation

According to Dr Manjula N., the collaboration reflects Karnataka’s strategy to deepen international partnerships in emerging technologies while enabling startups, researchers, and enterprises to collaborate on innovation-driven outcomes. The initiative also positions Karnataka as a potential gateway for broader India–EU technology engagement.

The agreement builds on earlier discussions held during the Bengaluru Tech Summit and is expected to create new pathways for cross-border innovation and research collaboration.
