Kotak Life partners with DEPT to build AI-powered digital platform

Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company has partnered with global digital consultancy DEPT to accelerate its digital transformation, with a focus on building a next-generation, AI-enabled digital platform ecosystem for more personalised customer experiences.

The partnership will focus on strengthening the agility, intelligence, and scalability of Kotak Life’s digital engagement platforms as the insurer looks to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply across its customer-facing and operational ecosystem.

As part of the initiative, Kotak Life plans to transition its customer-facing digital assets to a cloud-native, headless architecture powered by Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Cloud Services. The architecture is expected to provide greater flexibility in managing digital experiences and support the insurer’s broader plans to integrate AI across its life insurance value chain.

Sourabh Chatterjee, Chief Technology Digital Transformation Officer, Kotak Life, said the insurer is placing customers at the centre of its technology strategy as AI reshapes customer experience.

He said the shift towards more personalised experiences will require enterprises to build scalable digital platforms capable of delivering such experiences consistently. According to Chatterjee, the move to a cloud-native, headless architecture, combined with natural language processing (NLP)-powered interfaces, is aligned with Kotak Life’s vision of deploying AI across its insurance value chain.

The partnership will also leverage an agentic development approach to accelerate content migration and software development.

Under the approach, AI agents will be used to streamline selected development and content-related processes. The initiative aligns with Kotak Life’s broader objective of deploying AI agents to optimise its platforms and business processes.

DEPT® will bring its proprietary Agentic Development Platform roadmap to the collaboration, with the two organizations expected to explore opportunities for co-innovation and improved development efficiency.

Himanshu Mody, Head of India, DEPT, said the company’s experience working with BFSI organizations has helped it develop capabilities for large-scale digital transformation programmes.

Mody said the partnership will focus on developing a cloud-native, headless digital foundation that can provide Kotak Life with greater scalability and enable faster innovation. He added that combining DEPT’s agentic development capabilities with Kotak Life’s AI strategy could accelerate both code and content delivery.

The transformation programme will also target direct customer acquisition through an improved user experience across Kotak Life’s digital platforms.

The companies said the initiative is intended to support measurable business growth while maintaining digital accessibility. The upgraded platforms will target compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, aimed at making digital experiences more inclusive and accessible to a wider range of users.

The partnership represents another step in Kotak Life’s broader digital transformation programme, with cloud-native architecture, AI and agentic development positioned as key components of its strategy to build more agile and personalised digital insurance experiences.
