Kyndryl expands AI skilling initiatives for government employees, students and youth in India

Kyndryl has announced an expansion of its social impact programmes in India aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) skills among government employees, students and young professionals through inclusive training and capability-building initiatives.

The expanded initiatives form part of the company’s broader investment commitment in India and are aligned with national digital and skilling priorities. The programmes collectively target training 50,000 students and 30,000 youth while strengthening AI readiness within the public sector.

Public sector AI capability building

As part of the initiative, Kyndryl plans to integrate its AI for Governance curriculum with the government’s iGOT Karmayogi platform, a digital learning system for civil servants. The courses will focus on AI fundamentals, responsible AI use and cybersecurity awareness, with the objective of helping public sector officials identify practical AI use cases while improving cyber resilience across institutions.

Foundational AI education for schools

The company will also introduce a foundational AI learning programme for government schools, beginning with a pilot in Varanasi and Ayodhya. The initiative aims to deliver age-appropriate AI education to around 50,000 students and provide training for approximately 1,000 teachers across 100 schools over the next two years.

Youth-led AI initiatives for communities

In addition, Kyndryl plans to train graduate students to promote AI literacy and support the adoption of AI-enabled solutions in areas such as rural governance, agriculture and livelihood development. The programme targets enabling up to 30,000 youth annually over a three-year period across multiple states.

Company leadership noted that the initiatives are designed to strengthen India’s digital workforce by enhancing AI and cyber readiness among public sector professionals, students and community leaders. The expansion builds on earlier engagements between Kyndryl’s global leadership and the Government of India focused on leveraging AI for public services, education and rural development.

Kyndryl provides enterprise technology and infrastructure services to organisations in more than 60 countries, with a focus on advisory, implementation and managed services for mission-critical systems.
