L&T Semiconductor, Tata Electronics partner to expand domestic chip manufacturing

L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited (LTSCT) and Tata Electronics have entered into a strategic partnership to expand domestic manufacturing of L&T Semiconductor’s chip products for global customers.

The partnership will combine LTSCT’s semiconductor design capabilities with Tata Electronics’ manufacturing, packaging and testing capabilities. The companies will jointly explore fabrication and packaging opportunities for LTSCT’s existing and future products across Tata Electronics’ process technologies and packaging solutions.

The companies will also work on design-to-fabrication optimisation aimed at supporting chip manufacturing at scale.

“Semiconductor leadership will increasingly be defined not just by design breakthroughs but by the ability to industrialise those designs through advanced packaging and manufacturing. At LTSCT, we see this as India’s opportunity to move up the value chain,” said Dr Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive, L&T Semiconductor Technologies.

“Our engagement with Tata Electronics is a decisive step in building those capabilities, ensuring that the next generation of semiconductor products can be designed in India and delivered to global markets with speed, reliability and scale,” he added.

Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD, Tata Electronics, said the partnership would bring together the companies’ respective design and manufacturing capabilities.

“Tata Electronics is establishing world-class semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India to provide trusted, high-quality solutions across the semiconductor value chain to our domestic and global customers,” Thakur said.

“Our partnership with LTSCT is a significant step which will accelerate India’s vision of becoming a full-stack semiconductor nation, by combining L&T Semiconductor’s deep fabless design and engineering expertise with our capabilities across semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing,” he added.
