Orange Business Services deploys data center for HPPCL

Orange Business Services, the enterprise communications arm of France Telecom-Orange, has commissioned a data center for Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), a state-owned power generating utility in Himachal Pradesh.

The data center, managed by Orange for five years, will facilitate the rollout of SAP applications and services at HPPCL.

Bala Mahadevan, CEO, Orange Business Services, India, said, “It is a proud moment for us to participate in a prestigious data center build project in India and we thank HPPCL for their confidence in our capabilities.”
HPPCL will now be able to run seamlessly various complicated business functions such as records, inventory, logistics and billing services. This facility will further strengthen its operations and help improve efficiency in delivering power services in the state.

The infrastructure includes computing, network and security solutions. The services provided by Orange include around-the-clock onsite integration, project management and managed services. The provision for a single window helpdesk will also enable the swift resolution of power related issues.

In addition to delivering, integrating and managing the data center at HPPCL, Orange will also be commissioning the maintenance of the Disaster Recovery Center located in Chennai.

To fulfill this engagement Orange Business Services partnered with APC, CA Technologies and Juniper Networks.
