Pioneer unveils TORAIZ SP-16 sampler and step sequencer

Pioneer’s TORAIZ SP-16 sampler and step sequencer is first in their line-up of music production tools for DJs and producers

With the aim to penetrate new markets and gain market share of the DJ production segment of DJ industry in India, the home-grown in-car entertainment systems company Pioneer India Electronics has launched TORAIZ SP-16 sampler and step sequencer, first in their line-up of music production tools for DJs and producers.

Interestingly for this product, Pioneer has partnered with the legendary synth creator Dave Smith to add the analogue filters from his renowned Prophet-6 synthesiser to the TORAIZ SP-16.

The sampler features 7-inch, full-colour touch screen with detailed sample information; a 16-step sequencer to create up to 256 different patterns; multicolored performance pads with velocity mode which can load up to 16 samples to the large rubber pads.

In addition, it comes with 2GB of pre-installed samples crafted by Loopmasters; touch strip for instinctive control on various parameters including pitch bending; USB port for accessing external samples and 8GB of flash memory to use the product as a standalone unit with no need for a laptop.

According to Pioneer India, the real-time processing engine of the sampler can reliably manipulate the sound using time stretch, pitch bend and amp envelope. One can also add the TORAIZ SP-16 to the CDJ or XDJ set-up using Pro DJ Link and the sampler will snap the one-shots and loops to the beat of the master deck.
