Syniverse signs a pact with BSNL, to expand telco’s global messaging reach

Syniverse has announced a new pact with Indian government owned telco, Bharat Sanchar Limited Nigam (BSNL), to implement its SMS interoperability solution.

“BSNL is dedicated to serving its subscribers by leveraging technology to provide affordable and innovative telecom services. Working with Syniverse, we will optimise our messaging system to ensure our subscribers receive the highest level of reliability and excellent service on par with global telecom operators,” said  Anupam Shrivastava, Director, Consumer Mobility, BSNL Board.

Syniverse’s SMS interoperability solution enables mobile operators to rapidly establish interworking relationships with other MNOs using just one network configuration, one testing process, one financial arrangement and one contract.

New SMS destinations automatically become available as they connect to the Syniverse SMS Hub, either directly or through peering agreements. The routing of SMS messages also includes mobile number portability and routing capabilities for a range of GSM, CDMA and TDMA networks.

“Syniverse’s SMS interoperability solution provides a comprehensive solution for MNOs to address this, and this will enable BSNL to sign a single agreement to connect to numerous MNOs worldwide instead of multiple individual commercial agreements to establish those connections,”said Sanjay Kasturia, Vice President and Managing Director – Sales, Syniverse India.
