The Modern Data Company signs MoU with Goa for AI-based governance

The Modern Data Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Goa to explore the use of artificial intelligence in public services under the state’s Swayampurna Goa vision.

The collaboration will examine AI applications across public service delivery, education, tourism and healthcare. Potential use cases include identifying eligible households that have not received government benefits, tracking scheme coverage at the panchayat level and flagging students who may need academic support.

In tourism, AI-based visitor forecasts could help authorities plan crowd management, transport and safety resources. Healthcare applications under consideration include disease detection, medicine-demand forecasting and identifying emerging health hotspots.

The company’s DataOS platform is expected to help departments bring information from existing government systems together for AI-driven analysis, with an emphasis on secure and governed data use.

The MoU will follow a phased approach, beginning with the selection of a priority use case and an assessment of implementation requirements. The parties aim to take one use case live by February or March 2027, subject to departmental readiness and approvals.

Swayampurna Goa, launched in 2020, focuses on village-level self-reliance, access to government schemes and ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive their entitlements. The agreement seeks to explore how AI could support these objectives and inform wider adoption across government functions.
