WhatsApp Dark Mode Is Official Finally!

The dark mode of WhatsApp is being rolled out to both Android and iOS users. Here’s a small guide to enable the WhatsApp dark mode.

The WhatsApp dark mode, a long-awaited one has kept users waiting for a long time. The dark mode update was released on Tuesday night, and it’s rolling out the same in a phased manner. This also means that if you haven’t received an update yet, you have to wait for some time, but its expected to be updated very soon. 

For your convenience, here’s a step by step guide on how could one enable or get the feature on your smart phone. 

On Android

People who are using phones that run on Android 10, can go to the Google Play Store and update the application. Those who haven’t received the update yet would have to wait for some time, as WhatsApp said that its rolling out in a phased manner. It’s better if the phone is connected to a WiFi network before the update is being installed.

After that, the user has to the phone Settings option, then scroll down to Display & Brightness option, and tap of Dark mode. Users using Android 9 and below can go to WhatsApp Settings> Chats > Theme > select ‘Dark’ option. 

On iOS

On iPhones that run on iOS 13 would be getting this update. Quite similar to Android, iPhone users must visit the App store, and update the WhatsApp app. After the update, one needs to head over to the phone Settings options, scroll down to Display & Brightness, and tap of Dark mode.

How Useful Is The WhatsApp Dark Mode?

Besides improving on the readability, the WhatsApp Dark mode is likely to ensure that the most important information stands out. This would be by using a combination of colours and other design elements. 

WhatsApp even said that it has been using closer that are closer to system defaults on iPhone and Android. 

In a blog post, WhatsApp said that the most requested Dark mode is now being rolled out to WhatsApp users across the globe. Also, Dark mode reduces the stress on the eyes, specifically in low light environments.
