Adoption of open source software in the government sector is being considered as a potential development for the overall IT sector, and acknowledging this fact, the Government in India has already formulated a policy on adoption of open source software long back.
To increase the awareness about the usage of open source in governance and government functioning, Express Computer, The Indian Express Group, and GitHub are organising an exclusive Workshop on Leveraging Open Source Tools and Platforms on 21st February 2023 at the office of Kerala State IT Mission in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Workshop will be hosted by Kerala State IT Mission, Department of Electronics and IT, Kerala and supported by NIC and ICFOSS.
Objectives of the Workshop:
+ To create understanding amongst senior officials about open-source technology & its usage in Government Tech Projects & APPs
+ How to work on open source projects productively, Contribute, and benefit from it
+ Share commonly used methods, such as Version Control, Continuous Integration, etc. Use of popular hosting providers as a central meeting place for open source collaboration
+ Discuss aspects of Security, Legality, and Licensing in OSS software development
+ Share best practices around setting up effective Program Management of open source at a department level
It will be a great learning opportunity for you as a number of experts from KSITM, GitHub, NIC and ICFOSS shall deliver lectures and presentations at the workshop.
