AWS to open Builder Lofts in Berlin, Hyderabad and São Paulo

Permanent community spaces will provide developers, students and technology professionals with opportunities for hands-on learning, collaboration and community-led events

AWS is planning to open new Builder Lofts in Berlin, Hyderabad and São Paulo, expanding its network of permanent community spaces for developers, students and technology professionals.

The initiative builds on AWS’s earlier Pop-up Lofts, which provided physical spaces for startup entrepreneurs, developers and others to attend events, hold meetings and collaborate. More recently, AWS Gen AI Lofts offered temporary spaces focused on generative AI and immersive learning experiences.

AWS said the move towards permanent Builder Lofts reflects the need for community spaces where developers and students can learn through hands-on experiences, share knowledge and collaborate. The first AWS Builder Loft, which opened in San Francisco in July 2025, has hosted more than 22,500 developers and organised hackathons, workshops, demo nights and community-led events.

The new locations will offer free workshops, networking events, pitch sessions, content creation spaces, collaboration and co-working areas, and venues for community events. Developers, students and technology professionals will also be able to meet AWS experts and connect with local technology communities.

AWS User Groups, AWS Student Builder Groups and independent developer communities will be able to use the spaces for meetups. Community leaders will be able to request bookings to host events at no cost.

Hyderabad to focus on AI and cloud-native development

The Hyderabad Builder Loft will provide Indian developers with a dedicated space to develop their skills in AI, explore cloud-native architectures and connect with other developers working on new applications.

AWS is positioning Hyderabad as one of the locations for the expansion because of its role as a technology and talent hub.

The other two locations will have region-specific programmes. In Berlin, the Builder Loft will focus on areas including digital sovereignty, hackathons and security-readiness workshops while connecting Germany’s startup ecosystem with the wider European technology community.

In São Paulo, the Builder Loft will serve developers across Latin America through programming developed with local communities, universities and startup networks. AWS said Brazil’s cloud market is growing at 30% annually, with São Paulo at the centre of the region’s technology ecosystem.

Community-led programming

The existing San Francisco Builder Loft hosts four to eight community events each week, covering areas such as generative AI, startup pitching, coding workshops and developer networking.

The spaces are designed to support different types of activities. Training rooms can accommodate student workshops, while the same spaces can later be used for startup demonstrations, networking events or community meetups.

AWS said community participation will remain central to the model. Local developers, meetup organisers and technology leaders will help shape the programming, while AWS will provide the physical space, infrastructure and support.

AWS said it will announce the opening dates for the three new Builder Lofts through future updates.
