Bangalore’s upcoming ‘Women only’ hackathon to focus on humanitarian project

The Anita Borg Institute (ABI), a non-profit organisation focused on the advancement of women in computer science and engineering will host a ‘Women only’ hackathon on Saturday 23 August in Bangalore. The theme of this females only hackathon event is ‘Tech for Good.’

The hackathon event will be held between 8:30 to 6 in the evening at the Intuit Office, Pritech Park SEZ, Outer Ring Road, Bellandur, Bangalore. The hackathon will be lead by Venturesity and presented in collaboration with Girls in Tech and Intuit.

The event is aimed at encouraging women computer programmers and software developers to code and work on ideas and projects of social impact.

It will also be a platform to educate and expose female students to network as well as work in collaboration with senior developers. Whether it is blood donation or city cleanup drive, participants will get an opportunity to unleash their ideas to make the world a better place using – Tech for Good!

“This is a great platform for women developers and coders to combine their talent, insight and unleash their can-do spirit by collaboratively harnessing data and code to create innovative solutions for problems that affect societies at large,” said Geetha Kannan, India Managing Director – Anita Borg Institute.

“This hackathon is intended to challenge the experienced coders on one hand and a learning exposure to the younger ones. The participants should leave with a sense of achievement and be better prepared to face the real world of  fast paced technology,” added Geetha.
