Coforge has introduced its Autonomous Software Factory (ASF), an operating model designed to coordinate and govern AI agents across the software development lifecycle (SDLC), as enterprises move from AI-assisted coding towards more autonomous software engineering.
The framework focuses on orchestrating AI agents across coding, testing, validation, code review and quality assurance within secure execution environments. It enables these activities to run in parallel, with governance mechanisms and human oversight intended to maintain quality, compliance and enterprise controls.
Coforge said the approach addresses a growing challenge for organisations adopting AI in software development: coordinating and managing agents at scale, rather than simply generating code. Under the model, human teams would focus more on architecture, governance and strategic decisions while AI agents handle an increasing share of execution.
“Enterprise software development is entering a post-coding era, where generating software is quickly becoming the easy part,” said Vic Gupta, Executive Vice President at Coforge. He said the ability to coordinate, govern and scale AI agents across the software lifecycle would become a key source of competitive advantage.
The company positioned ASF as part of its broader approach to enterprise autonomy and AI-native engineering. It did not disclose pricing, customer deployments or performance benchmarks for the new operating model.
