Cognizant partners with EBRD on five-year AI-led technology transformation

Cognizant has been selected by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as a strategic technology partner under the Bank’s Tech Blueprint programme, which aims to improve operational efficiency and support innovation through digital technologies, AI, data and intelligent automation.

Under the five-year framework, Cognizant will provide technology services through two models: outcome-led managed services and fixed-capacity services. The scope will cover digital and workplace management, cloud infrastructure, data and security, software engineering, automation and AI.

The framework also includes continuous improvement initiatives intended to strengthen service reliability, improve operational efficiency and deliver measurable results over the duration of the partnership.

As part of the agreement, Cognizant plans to deploy several of its AI-based solutions across the EBRD’s technology operations. These include Neuro IT Operations, which is designed to improve visibility across IT systems and help identify and resolve issues; Flow source, which applies generative and agentic AI to software development; and Work NEXT, which supports workplace management through AI-powered voice, translation and service orchestration capabilities.

The solutions are intended to support service management, software engineering and workplace operations as the Bank continues to modernise its technology infrastructure.

“Through the Tech Blueprint, the EBRD is working to strengthen the technology and capabilities that support its operations and wider mission,” said Subhash Chandra Jose, Managing Director for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at the EBRD. “The partnership with Cognizant is intended to support technology optimisation, strengthen operational resilience and create additional capacity for innovation.”

Simon Reeves, Director of Technology at the EBRD, said the partnership would support the Bank’s technology modernisation and digitalisation efforts through managed services, AI-enabled delivery and an outcome-focused approach.

Rohit Gupta, UK&I Managing Director at Cognizant, said that the partnership would bring together the company’s systems integration expertise and AI-enabled operational capabilities to support the EBRD’s technology services, improve operational reliability and advance its technology modernisation efforts.
