Dell Buys Clerity Solutions

Dell announced that it has acquired Clerity Solutions, a global provider of applications modernization and re-hosting solutions and services. In it’s second enterprise software related acquisition this week, Clerity’s capabilities will enable Dell Services to help customers reduce the cost of transitioning business-critical applications and data from legacy computing systems and onto more modern architectures, including the cloud.

“The combination of Clerity and Dell provides tremendous growth opportunities for our core application modernization and re-hosting solutions, and rapidly expands our global reach and scale,” said Brandon Edenfield, president, Clerity Solutions. “Taking this step with Dell is a very natural progression for our business and offers customers access to world-class enterprise solutions and services offered by Dell Services,” he added.

Dell has taken many steps over the past three years to expand its services capabilities. Very recently it also agreed to buy Wyse Technology, maker of software and hardware for thin clients. Clerity’s tools automate the migration of legacy applications to new systems, reducing the amount of re-testing and staff training, according to a statement. The Chicago company has about 70 workers, who will become part of Dell’s services division. It competes with vendors such as Micro Focus and CA Technologies.
