NetApp releases unified storage system for enterprises

NetApp has introduced two new storage system platforms—the extreme-performance FAS8080 EX and the entry value-priced FAS2500.  The company says the announcement is in line with its commitment to enhance its comprehensive system and software portfolio to provide the flexibility and choice required for current and future enterprise application environments.

With the FAS8080 EX growing organisations and service providers can confidently drive the performance-intensive SAN and NAS workloads at the largest scale. The new entry-level FAS2500 hybrid arrays are targeted at simplifying operations, increase productivity through superior integration with ecosystem, extend system life and minimize future costs.

Santhosh D’ Souza, Director- Systems Engineering, NetApp Marketing & Services Pvt. Ltd India said, “In February this year, we introduced the FAS8000 series, a family of storage systems that unified SAN, NAS and Storage Virtualization capabilities in a single hybrid array. Enterprises, Service Providers and Government Agencies across the world have embraced the FAS8000 architecture, and had asked for complementary capabilities at the highest end and the entry level. The FAS8080EX is the most powerful NetApp storage system yet and perfect for mission-critical application environments. The FAS2500 on the other hand extends our performance and value leadership at the entry level, delivering better price/performance characteristics. NetApp sees strong demand for both the new products across enterprises, SPs and government agencies. Core business applications, both transactional and decision support workloads, will particularly benefit from the FAS8080EX.”
