Over 47 lakh people participated in Digital India events: Govt

Over 47 lakh people directly participated in various programmes organised under Digital India week, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

“I am overwhelmed by the response that we got in entire country for Digital India. As minister I would like my profund gratitude and compliment the state governments, people of India for one of the most historic and enthusiastic participation in this programme,” Prasad told reporters.

The minister said that 170 events were conducted at state headquarters in which more than 98,000 people participated.

“Industry captain on the opening day committed to investing about Rs 4.5 lakh crore and creating 18 lakh jobs. About 25 such events were graced by Chief Ministers, Lt. Governors and Administrators. More than 250 services were launched in areas of health information, utility services,land record services, mobile app for civic amenities etc,” he said.

Events were held at district headquarters to village panchayat level.

Maximum participation of 34.2 lakh was seen in events organised at more than 57,000 Common Service Centers.

Government received 391 million impressions of Digital India campaign on social media platform.

“#DigitalDialogue received 391 million impressions during period of 3 days, July 4-6,” Prasad said.

On Facebook, 1 person joined every second with a total reach of 2.6 Million during the week and on Twitter 1 follower added every 4 seconds with 3.6 Million impressions during the week, he said.
