The American software company, VMware announced that IGATE,  an integrated technology and operations-based solutions provider has implemented VMware vCloud Suite.

IGATE will build a private cloud for its Center of Excellence (CoE) laboratory in Bangalore. VMware’s vCloud Suite will provide the management, automation, and orchestration required for the private cloud.

Headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey, IGATE was looking at building out a private cloud to efficiently develop and deliver services to its large customer base in Europe and the United States. VMware vCloud Suite will enable IGATE to deliver complete application environments on top of its existing infrastructure, and provide automation and management capabilities to support software development lifecycles.

IGATE has also chosen to deploy VMware’s NSX, the network virtualization platform for the software-defined data center, to transform the economics of network and security operations.

The VMware solution is likely to help the IGATE team reduce time to access infrastructure resources from weeks to minutes, boost network security, and cut network admin costs by an estimated 35 per cent.

“In today’s complex business and technology environment, it is imperative to be able to implement services that provide the best possible outcome for our customers. We have built a private cloud, powered by VMware vCloud Suite, to deliver Infrastructure-as-a-Service. This comprises compute, storage and networking resources to efficiently develop and deliver services to our large customers based in Europe and United States,” said Vijay Kumar Srivastava, Associate Director-IMS at IGATE.

“VMware vCloud Suite has also enabled us to develop customized solutions for our customers that span multiple platforms and technologies. This will help their businesses become more agile and adaptable to changing market dynamics. VMware will play a key role in our IT strategy as we can leverage their technologies to perform customization and automation to enable hybrid cloud models,” he added.

“Organizations such as IGATE are adopting the software-defined data center as the proven model for running agile, secure, and scalable data centers,” said Arun Parameswaran, Managing Director, VMware India.

According to an IDC report commissioned by VMware, customers in India are expected to save an estimated US$4 billion between 2014 and 2020 by adopting a software-defined approach to managing IT.
