Cloudflare, Inc. has announced the launch of Cloudflare OS, an open-source AI workspace designed to help organisations deploy AI tools integrated with their internal systems while maintaining enterprise security and governance. The platform runs on Cloudflare’s global network and is currently available through the company’s open-source repository, with a managed deployment option expected to be introduced later.
Cloudflare said the platform addresses a common challenge faced by enterprises, where general-purpose AI tools lack an understanding of an organisation’s internal systems, business processes and workflows. Cloudflare OS enables organisations to capture their internal knowledge and operational context so employees can use AI without repeatedly providing the same information across different sessions.
Originally developed for Cloudflare’s own operations, the platform is used by employees across the organisation for research, document creation, workflow automation and application development. It also integrates with internal tools and systems through identity verification and access controls.
Cloudflare OS enables employees to access AI through a browser-based workspace to conduct research, generate documents using live enterprise data and automate workflows without requiring developer intervention. It also allows users to create applications from AI-generated outputs, with built-in databases, access controls and real-time functionality. The platform is built on Cloudflare Access, applying zero trust principles by verifying every user and request before granting access, while AI agents receive only task-specific permissions. Through Cloudflare AI Gateway, organisations can also use AI models from multiple providers, monitor AI usage and costs, and manage workloads across different models.
Commenting on the launch, Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, said: “Cloudflare OS is how we run Cloudflare. For AI to truly transform an enterprise, it can’t live in a silo or behind a developer bottleneck. Every employee needs the ability to build, iterate, and automate safely. Our employees get AI tools connected to the systems they actually use, and security isn’t something IT has to bolt on afterward. We built this because nothing else did what we needed. Now any company can start from where it took us years to get.”
Cloudflare is also collaborating with systems integration partners to support enterprise deployments, allowing organisations to tailor the platform to their technology environments and compliance requirements. The company said Cloudflare OS is available today as an open-source platform, with additional managed deployment options planned for the future.
