Deloitte India launches QCoDE at IIT Bombay

Deloitte India has announced the launch of its Quantum Centre of Disruption for Enterprises (QCoDE) at the ASPIRE Research Park on the campus of IIT Bombay, marking a significant step towards accelerating quantum adoption across Indian enterprises.

The initiative is positioned as a strategic industry–academia collaboration aimed at bridging the gap between quantum research and real-world enterprise deployment. By bringing together Deloitte’s global quantum network, academic expertise, start-ups, and industry stakeholders, the centre will help organisations move from early experimentation to scalable, production-grade quantum use cases.

According to Romal Shetty, the launch aligns with India’s broader ambitions under the National Quantum Mission, with a focus on enabling the country to emerge not just as a consumer but as a global hub for quantum innovation. Embedding the centre within IIT Bombay’s ecosystem is expected to foster deeper collaboration across academia, government, and industry.

The QCoDE will support enterprises across the full quantum journey—from strategy and use-case identification to proof-of-concept and scaled deployment. Its focus areas span high-impact domains such as materials and drug discovery using hybrid quantum-AI models, supply chain optimisation, quantum-safe cybersecurity, and enterprise capability building.

Jagdish Bhandarkar emphasised that quantum represents a paradigm shift, requiring enterprises to act early and decisively to unlock long-term value. Similarly, Renata Jovanovic highlighted the importance of beginning quantum journeys now, rather than waiting for full hardware maturity, with hybrid quantum-AI approaches already delivering near-term benefits.

From an ecosystem perspective, the centre is also expected to play a key role in talent development and workforce readiness, enabling organisations to build quantum-literate teams through research collaborations and academic partnerships.

The move comes at a time when quantum technologies are transitioning from theoretical exploration to practical, enterprise-grade applications, with early adopters likely to gain a disproportionate competitive advantage. By combining academic depth with industry context, QCoDE aims to provide a structured pathway for Indian enterprises to evaluate, adopt, and scale quantum technologies with reduced risk.

With this launch, Deloitte India is positioning itself at the forefront of India’s emerging quantum ecosystem, enabling enterprises to translate cutting-edge research into measurable business outcomes while strengthening the country’s global standing in deep-tech innovation.
