Snowflake and SAP SE announced a new collaboration that will enable organisations to seamlessly leverage Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud and SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) using semantically rich data.
The partnership will make Snowflake’s data and AI platform available as an SAP solution extension for SAP BDC customers. The new offering, the SAP Snowflake solution extension for SAP Business Data Cloud, unites SAP’s deep expertise in mission-critical business processes and semantic data with Snowflake’s unified data and AI capabilities for building enterprise-grade artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions.
SAP and Snowflake are also introducing zero-copy data sharing between SAP BDC and Snowflake, helping customers gain richer insights, build intelligent enterprise applications, and accelerate AI-driven innovation — all within a secure, governed environment.
“By tightly integrating SAP and Snowflake, we’re making it simple for enterprises to connect their critical business data — with its rich SAP context — to the power of seamless AI app and data agent development at scale in Snowflake,” said Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product, Snowflake. “Enterprises can now innovate faster and share data securely between platforms — zero-copy and fully governed.”
Bringing Together Business Context and AI Scale
SAP Snowflake extends Snowflake into SAP’s open data ecosystem and the broader business data fabric, empowering customers with greater openness, flexibility, and choice. The solution brings Snowflake’s analytics, data engineering, marketplace, and collaboration features directly into the SAP BDC environment.
Customers can use SAP BDC with SAP Snowflake as a cloud-scale compute and storage option, maximising the value of their enterprise data. Through bidirectional, zero-copy data access, data and AI teams can work with semantically rich SAP data products in real time under a unified governance framework.
This enables organisations to harmonise SAP and non-SAP data, optimise total cost of ownership, and build AI agents and applications powered by trusted business data.
“Bringing Snowflake to SAP Business Data Cloud empowers our customers with openness and choice,” said Irfan Khan, President and Chief Product Officer for SAP Data and Analytics, SAP SE. “Together, we’re combining SAP’s decades of leadership in mission-critical business applications with Snowflake’s modern data platform to deliver a unified, enterprise-ready, and SAP-supported experience — one that extends the value of business data across the entire ecosystem.”
Key Benefits of SAP Snowflake
With SAP Snowflake, customers can:
Build a trusted, AI-ready data foundation
Harmonise SAP and non-SAP data through an integrated business data fabric, enabling seamless zero-copy sharing, enriched modelling, and a complete, real-time view of data across the enterprise for analytics, data engineering, and AI/ML workflows.
Accelerate AI business value with semantically rich data
Simplify AI governance, ground AI models in organisational knowledge, and build context-rich, secure AI agents — helping deliver more intelligent and compliant enterprise applications.

Expanding the partnership: SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Snowflake
In addition to SAP Snowflake, the partnership introduces SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Snowflake, enabling bidirectional, zero-copy data sharing between the two platforms.
Enterprises already using Snowflake can integrate their existing instances with SAP BDC for seamless, real-time access to semantically rich SAP data products — without duplication. This empowers organisations to unify insights, streamline analytics, and enhance AI-driven decision-making across environments.
Industry momentum and customer impact
SAP and Snowflake are already supporting thousands of global customers — including industry leaders such as AstraZeneca — as they harness the power of trusted data and enterprise AI to drive transformation.
“AstraZeneca is constantly pushing the boundaries of science and pioneering life-changing medicines,” said Russell Smith, Vice President of ERP Transformation Technology, AstraZeneca. “Data and AI are central to achieving this aim, and our collaboration with SAP and Snowflake enhances our ability to access, process, and analyse real-time data. This partnership accelerates our mission — because every minute matters in making breakthroughs for patients.”
