HyperVerge launches AI agents for MSME loan underwriting

HyperVerge has launched a suite of AI agents for business loan underwriting, aimed at automating parts of the credit assessment process while retaining human oversight over lending decisions.

The suite, launched at the Global Fintech Fest 2026, comprises three AI agents covering financial underwriting, video-based personal discussions and background due diligence.

The financial underwriting agent collects and reviews bank statements, GST filings and tax returns, and flags missing information. The video personal discussion agent conducts assessments in 10-12 languages, asking questions based on risks identified during the financial review and recording timestamped responses. The third agent checks businesses and promoters against corporate filings, litigation records and sanctions lists and routes flagged findings to credit teams.

HyperVerge said recommendations generated by the agents can be traced back to their underlying sources, including financial documents, video timestamps and public filings.

“We built traceability into the agentic suite from the start so a credit team, a borrower or a regulator can see exactly where information came from,” said Vignesh Krishnakumar, CTO and Co-founder, HyperVerge. “The same system that checks a business premises against reported financials during a video call also helps flag suspected mule accounts because it’s critical to ensure physical reality matches the paperwork.”

The company said it tested the suite with about 10 mid-sized lenders during initial proof-of-concept deployments, with three already using the video personal discussion agent in production.

According to HyperVerge, financial assessments that previously took two to three hours were completed in about five minutes during the pilots. Credit appraisal memos that took around four hours to assemble were generated in under 10 minutes, while personal discussion notes were reduced from 45-60 minutes to about five minutes.

“Small ticket personal loans disburse in under 10 minutes today, but business loans still take days because of the depth of assessment they require,” said Kedar Kulkarni, CEO and Co-founder, HyperVerge. “Our AI agents automate that assembly work, pulling documents, compiling data, and running credit parameters, so a small business doesn’t have to wait weeks for a decision and gets access to credit faster.”
