ETASHA Society Launches DigiSaksham to Help Young People Identify Online Scams and Fraud
Free online learning platform equips students and young people from underserved communities with practical digital literacy and online safety skills, with a target of reaching 20,000 learners.
ETASHA Society today launched DigiSaksham, a free online learning platform designed to help adolescents and young people develop digital literacy and online safety skills. Supported by BT Group and British Asian Trust, the initiative aims to equip 20,000 young people with the knowledge to identify online threats, including fake job offers, scholarship scams, phishing links, misleading information and payment fraud.
As young people increasingly use digital platforms to access education, employment opportunities, government services and skills training, the ability to navigate the online world safely has become essential. For those from underserved communities, limited exposure to digital safety practices can increase their vulnerability to fraud, privacy risks and misleading content.
DigiSaksham addresses this gap through practical online learning, helping users recognise warning signs, protect themselves and understand how to respond to potential threats. Learners can also share their knowledge with family members and communities, extending the initiative’s impact beyond individual participants.
“DigiSaksham is about making digital opportunities safer for everyone. Parents use phones and women and men go out to work, but children at home can be particularly vulnerable. By educating adolescents, young people and families, we are bridging the gap between digital opportunity and the responsibility to use it safely,” said Dr Meenakshi Nayar, Founder President, ETASHA Society.
The launch was attended by Ian McBride, Head of Responsible Business and Social Impact – India, BT Group, as Chief Guest.
“Online opportunities are enormous, but they come with risks. This launch is another positive step towards ensuring that everyone can participate in the digital world safely, confidently and responsibly. It is also a step towards a safer and more digitally inclusive India. ETASHA consistently focuses on helping young people access opportunities through education, employability and life skills, with an emphasis on outcomes rather than activities,” said Ian McBride.
Through DigiSaksham, ETASHA Society aims to strengthen digital awareness and help young people make informed decisions online, enabling them to participate more safely and confidently in an increasingly digital society.
