Hansi Government Schools Launch ‘Prerna Talkies’ to Bring Inspirational Films into Classrooms
The district administration in Hansi has launched an education-focused initiative, ‘Prerna Talkies’, aimed at using digital screens and films as a tool to inspire students, encourage creative thinking and support their overall development.
The initiative, launched under the guidance of D.C. Rahul Narwal, has initially been introduced in 15 government schools across Hansi, covering primary, middle and senior secondary students. As part of the pilot, students will watch selected inspirational and educational films every Saturday using the smart panels, projectors and smart classroom infrastructure available in the schools.
The films have been carefully selected to go beyond conventional classroom learning. The content includes stories about inspiring personalities, life lessons, science, sports, innovation, the environment, nature, national service and individuals who have brought positive change to society.
Using digital content to make learning more engaging
According to the district administration, the objective of Prerna Talkies is to take learning beyond traditional classroom methods and expose students to stories and experiences that can encourage them to dream bigger, set goals and develop confidence.
The initiative also aims to connect students with themes such as science, innovation, sports, environmental awareness and social responsibility. Through these stories, students are expected to learn about perseverance, hard work, commitment and determination, particularly in the face of difficult circumstances.
The administration said that children studying in government schools in both rural and urban areas possess talent and potential, and that providing them with timely inspiration and opportunities can help them identify their interests and work towards larger goals.
Screenings followed by student discussions
A key feature of the initiative is that the activity does not end with the film screening. Following each screening, teachers will engage students in discussions around the film’s story and the lessons they can draw from it.
Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions and discuss the experiences and challenges faced by the characters featured in the films. The administration believes this approach can help develop communication skills, logical thinking, self-confidence and the ability to express ideas.
According to the district administration, the response from students was enthusiastic, with children watching the films with considerable interest and attention.
A technology-enabled approach to student development
While Prerna Talkies uses existing digital infrastructure in government schools, its larger objective is to combine technology, educational content and classroom interaction to create a more engaging learning experience.
The district administration has described the initiative as a pilot project and said that the experience from the participating schools will help shape its further implementation.
The initiative was also supported by Prateeksha Sangwan, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate, along with education department officials, block education officers, school principals and teachers involved in preparing the selected schools for the programme.
Prerna Talkies represents an effort to use existing smart classroom infrastructure not merely for conventional digital lessons, but also as a platform for storytelling, exposure and student engagement.
