Progress Software expands Telerik and Kendo UI with AI capabilities for agent-ready applications

Progress Software has announced a new release of its Telerik and Kendo UI platforms, adding AI capabilities aimed at helping development teams move from AI-assisted coding towards production applications designed to support both human users and AI agents.

The release expands AI integration across UI generation, application modernisation, debugging and data interaction. It also introduces capabilities for agent-based document processing and enables AI agents to interact directly with application interfaces.

“Engineering teams need AI to scale their productivity and to increase the production of agentic applications,” said Loren Jarrett, EVP and GM, Digital Experience, Progress Software. “This release supports those needs by extending developer productivity and providing pioneering UI tools to build AI-embedded applications compatible with both human and agent interactions.”

Among the additions is the Progress Agentic UI Generator, which incorporates accessibility considerations at the component level during UI creation. The company said the capability is intended to provide contextual guidance while reducing the manual effort involved in meeting accessibility requirements.

The release also extends debugging capabilities through Progress Fiddler Agent Skills, giving coding assistants visibility into network traffic and enabling them to identify potential problems and suggest solutions within the development environment.

For applications that work with documents, agent tools in Telerik Document Processing Libraries can extract structured data, analyse Excel files, convert formats and generate documents without relying on external AI services, according to Progress.

Another addition is WebMCP, which enables AI agents to interact directly with application interfaces. The company said the approach is intended to provide a more reliable alternative to screen-scraping techniques for agent-driven application interactions.

The release also targets legacy application modernisation. Progress has introduced automated conversion capabilities for WinForms applications to Telerik UI for WinForms, using intelligent control mapping, code parsing and MCP-based automation.

Developers can also connect .NET applications to Progress RAG-as-a-Service to enable large language models to analyse and interact with unstructured enterprise data, documents and other information.

The latest release further adds Smart Paste, PromptBox and SmartBox capabilities, along with new components, broader framework support, faster CLI onboarding and integrated AI chat within documentation.
