SACC India signs MoU with Toronto Business Development Centre to help Indian Startups

Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) India has signed a MoU with Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC) to help start-up founders from the SACC community to scale in the North American market via Canada.

As an ardent supporter and enabler of start-ups right from the grassroot level SACC was set up as a non-profit entity in 2014 to promote entrepreneurship and stimulate a start-up friendly eco-system in the Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab region.

SACC runs more than eight incubation centres across Punjab and Haryana and is known for being one of the few incubators in North India that give 360-degree support to their portfolio of start-ups. SACC has a strong footprint in Punjab and Haryana, through its vibrant and highly networked community of established Entrepreneurs, Mentors, Professionals, and Students.

Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC) is a business incubator since 1990 in the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario, with a mandate to nurture the growth of new and emerging businesses by providing access to advisory support, physical facilities, and tools appropriate to the venture’s stage of development.

Mr. Manipal Dhariwal, President SACC said, “The MoU between SACC and TBDC is going to be a powerful way for helping early to growth-stage founders from the SACC network to scale in the North American market, by giving them access to the mentors and advisors from TBDC network who can guide them through their scaleup journey in Canada and North America. Our strong association with TBDC will ensure we provide business and investor connections to start-ups and help them enroll for the Start-up Visa (SUV) program”.

The intention is towards collaborating to select suitable start-ups from the Platform to go through the Start-up Visa selection process and relocate, if selected, to Canada.

Neha Jain, Director APAC, TBDC said, “At TBDC we are growing the next wave of start-ups in Canada by bringing high potential founders from around the world. We know how challenging scaling up business across borders can be, so TBDC will help screen and interview companies using our established due diligence process for Startup Visa and Soft-Landing Program. We will share resources to provide business advisory (mentors) and investment networks to the start-ups that qualify under Startup Visa and Soft-Landing Program. Together, we will also provide a six-month incubation program to the qualifier companies”.
