Cybersecurity skills that are in demand as jobseeker interest grows across key roles: Indeed data

0 0

Indeed’s data reveals, more people in India are exploring cybersecurity careers, with jobseeker interest in four key cybersecurity roles more than doubling over the latest 12-month period.

Jobseeker interest, measured by clicks on job postings, for roles such as Cybersecurity Analyst, Privacy/Data Protection, Security Engineer and SOC Analyst roles more than doubled in the latest 12-month period compared with the preceding 12-month period.

SOC Analyst roles saw the biggest increase in jobseeker interest, at 225%, followed by Privacy/Data Protection at 189%, Security Engineer at 176% and Cybersecurity Analyst at 175%.

Rohan Sylvester, Talent Strategy Advisor, Indeed India, said, “More people are looking at cybersecurity as a career, but the opportunities aren’t growing at the same pace across every specialisation. For jobseekers, it is useful to understand the skills employers are looking for.”

Other frequently appearing skills included Firewall at 19.6%, ISO 27001 at 17.5%, SIEM at 15.2%, Network Security at 12.0% and Vulnerability Assessment at 11.6%. Together, these skills reflect the areas organisations are prioritising as they secure data, cloud-based services, digital identities and increasingly complex technology systems. These capabilities are also becoming relevant to everyday digital experiences – from protecting personal and business data to securing online services, managing access to digital accounts and helping organisations respond to emerging technology risks.

Employer demand, however, has moved at a more measured and varied pace

Job postings, however, were more measured and varied across these roles. Job postings increased by 18% for Privacy/Data Protection and 9% for Cybersecurity Analyst, while posting activity for Security Engineer and SOC Analyst declined by around 1% and 8%, respectively. The difference between jobseeker interest and employer posting activity highlights how demand is developing differently across cybersecurity specialisations.

As AI, cloud and digital commerce become more deeply embedded in India’s digital economy, cybersecurity is becoming increasingly central to how organisations manage technology, data and risk. The growing interest among job seekers, alongside evolving employer skill requirements and the changing nature of cybersecurity work, points to a wider range of career pathways across technology, finance, retail, healthcare, consulting and other sectors.
