GE Aerospace has appointed Shilpa Gupta as Chief Technology Officer, India, and Site Leader of the John F. Welch Technology Centre (JFWTC) in Bengaluru, underscoring the company’s continued commitment to India as a critical hub for aerospace innovation.

In her new role, Shilpa will lead GE Aerospace’s engineering, research and digital technology teams in Bengaluru, focusing on accelerating innovation, scaling advanced technologies and strengthening regional impact. Her mandate aligns closely with GE Aerospace’s purpose of inventing the future of flight—lifting people up and bringing them home safely.

Shilpa joins GE Aerospace from GE Vernova, where she led the Gas Power engineering teams across Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Noida, and also served as JFWTC Site Leader for GE Vernova. She succeeds Alok Nanda, who has moved into a global role as General Manager of Services Engineering at GE Aerospace, with responsibility for enhancing customer outcomes, driving operational efficiency and enabling next-generation growth.

India’s growing role in the future of flight

India continues to be central to GE Aerospace’s global innovation engine. Teams in Bengaluru are advancing next-generation propulsion and services technologies designed to meet evolving customer needs worldwide.

Engineers and researchers are contributing to the maturation of the *CFM RISE programme and hybrid-electric technologies, while also supporting critical initiatives such as dust ingestion testing. In parallel, services innovations like 360 Foam Wash are helping improve engine efficiency and durability in challenging operating environments such as South Asia.

GE Aerospace’s digital teams in Bengaluru are also transforming engine maintenance through the use of AI and digital twins, enabling greater inspection accuracy, faster turnaround times and improved time on wing.

Building future-ready aerospace talent

Talent development remains a key pillar of GE Aerospace’s India strategy. In September, the GE Aerospace Foundation, in partnership with United Way, launched Next Engineers in Bengaluru—a four-year college and career readiness programme aimed at developing future STEM talent.

Meanwhile, the company’s Edison Engineering Development Program, a two-year rotational initiative designed to build future engineering leaders, marked two decades of engineering excellence in India in 2025.
